Key Learning Outcomes

This unit applies to community services and health workers with the relevant authority in their state or territory to administer medication and monitor them as per the delegation from a relevant health professional.

Upon completing this unit, learners will be able to safely prepare, administer, and monitor medications in accordance with legal, ethical, and organisational requirements, while accurately documenting administration and responding appropriately to adverse reactions, ensuring the wellbeing of clients in aged care, disability, or community health settings.

An individual undertaking this course with Caring Alliance will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:

1. Students must be working in an Aged Care facility or similar workplace.

2. Must obtain employer approval to participate and complete workplace observations

3. Have access to internet, webcam, email and MS Word, Adobe software and computer

4. Be the minimum age of 18 years old

5. Photo ID (Can be your driving licence/ passport/ government issue photo Id)

6. USI Number (apply if you do not have one Get your USI | Unique Student Identifier)

7. Must have completed Year 12 or equivalent taught or assessed in English; or English test of 6.5 or above in each band or LLN assessment (We will provide)

Delivery Modes

The course is delivered online in one (1) day for 8 hours for the theoretical component and three (3) days or 24 hours for the work placement. The work placement is conducted in a residential aged care facility or similar setting to ensure hands-on experience.
